Looking is one of the most common diagnostic parameters that often defines Chinese medicine, with the emphasis on examining an individual’s posture, gestures, movements, shen, and tongue. Yet the analysis of one's facial features are generally neglected and can actually offer clues and testimony to an individual’s past, present, and future — in addition to their constitution. Relegated to fortune telling by scholars, as well as the need to standardize Chinese medicine (as there are also many styles of facial diagnosis), the physiognomy of the face was eliminated from its curriculum. This seminar will introduce participants to Chinese facial analysis and their clinical implications, including the significance of facial shapes, facial bone structures, the sensory orifices, and markings found on the face.

This class will be taught by Jeffrey Yuen, one of the most sought-after teachers of classical Chinese medicine in the world. This class is offered in-person and via livestream.  (NCCAOM & California applied)
