- Mary Cissy Majebé
MAHM, DAHM < Back Mary Cissy Majebé O.M.D., L. Ac., DOM (New Mexico) Mary Cissy Majebé began her educational pursuits with a BA in Sociology from the University of New Orleans in 1975. She continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi in 1980 where she received an MA in Exercise Physiology. She pursued her Ph.D. at the University of Virginia before deciding to attend the American College of Chinese Medicine, completing her studies in 1985 with a Master’s in Chinese Medicine. In 1990, she received her O.M.D. degree from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine. Since that time Dr. Majebé has undertaken numerous internships in both Korea and China. Her areas of focus in these post-graduate studies have focused on Internal Medicine. Dr. Majebé has a deep fondness for working in the fields of pediatrics and oncology. Dr. Majebé began studying with Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88 th generation Daoist priest, from the Jade Purity Traditions in 1998. His influence planted the seeds fort Dr. Majebé and a group of like-minded individuals to establish Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in 2003. Daoist Traditions has been one of the leaders in Chinese Medicine education in the U.S. She has served as president since inception. In 1985, Dr. Majebé founded the Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology Clinic in Asheville, NC. She was the first chair of the North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board (NCALB) and was instrumental in helping to write the laws governing the practice of acupuncture in North Carolina. Dr. Majebé continues to serve on committees with the NCALB.

MAHM < Back Jessi Davis MAOM, L. Ac. Jessi Davis is a licensed acupuncturist in North Carolina. She is nationally certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology by the NCCAOM. Jessi received her Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC, in 2017. She received undergraduate degrees in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Outdoor Education in 2006 from Colorado Mountain College in Leadville, CO. Jessi was an outdoor adventure guide for 11 years. This is where she first discovered her “medicine.” She loves how much healing happens when she sees people getting outside, moving, and having fun. Jessi believes movement is medicine and wants to provide the offering of Chinese medicine to the community to help relieve physical, mental, and emotional ailments that may be limiting a person’s ability to move around and enjoy their lives. Jessi is the owner of Asheville Community Acupuncture where she practices acupuncture in a community setting. She has worked at various recovery centers providing NADA ear Acupuncture to the clients. When Jessi is not practicing, teaching, or studying Chinese medicine; you will most likely find her hanging with her dog, sitting outside listening to nature, reading a book, dancing, riding her bike, rock climbing or doing acro-yoga.

MAHM, DAHM, CLINIC < Back Robert Vanderwall MAOM, DAOM Candidate Robert Vanderwall is currently a DAOM Candidate at AOMA Graduate School or Integrative Medicine in Austin, TX. Mr. Vanderwall is working through a program with areas of focus in research, leadership, teaching, and learning while focusing on a clinical specialty in pain management. Mr. Vanderwall received his MAOM from Daoist Traditions and previously had received an AAS from FLCC in Canandaigua, NY. Mr. Vanderwall is a graduate of the Mississippi School of Therapeutic Massage, was certified by the NCBTMB and practiced massage in North Carolina. For most of his adult life, Mr. Vanderwall has worked in the field of technology consulting. The majority of that time was spent working on mainframe, midrange, enterprise systems, and network infrastructure. His clients and employers have included Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. Mr. Vanderwall hopes to use his technical expertise in an interdisciplinary effort to improve the standing and quality of Chinese Medicine in the future. Mr. Vanderwall has been a student and practitioner of Taijiquan and Qigong for over 25 years. His studies have extended to include the other internal martial arts of Baguazhang, Xingyiquan, and Liuhebafa during that time. He currently teaches these arts to a handful of private students, as well as continuing his own personal study with several senior teachers.

- Kathy Robinson
MAHM, DAHM < Back Kathy Robinson M.D. Kathy Robinson graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 1989. She did her residency in family medicine at Duke University. She worked in private practices in Cary, NC and Durham, NC, and then went on to teach in the family medicine residency program at Duke. In 1998 she moved back to her hometown of Asheville. Since then she has worked in public health, first at the Buncombe County Health Department and presently at WNC Community Health Services. Dr. Robinson teaches healthcare at local prisons, serves on the Ethics Committee of Mission Hospital and volunteers at Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry medical clinic. She is a past president of Asheville Toastmasters and loves to read and garden.

Then, received a degree from Community school of TCM in acupuncture, diet, and Chinese herbs in July 1992. Frank has studied the Asian healing arts for over 30 years and the Asian movement arts for over 50 years. He has previously served as an advisory board member for the educational holistic program at Everglades University and as an instructor for Chinese medical theory at Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in South Florida. Frank’s years of experience as a student and teacher, along with his unique perspective and sensitivity as a healer, assists and guides patients and students toward the path of self-discovery and healing.

(NCCAOM) Mary Burke-Pitts has been studying Chinese medicine for 11 years and attended Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, North Carolina from 2008-2012, where she earned her Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree. Mary is certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and licensed to practice Chinese medicine in North Carolina. Her interest in Chinese medicine grew out of a passion for gardening. Before studying Chinese medicine Mary worked for Joe Hollis of Mountain Gardens to learn to grow Chinese medicinal herbs. Her interest in botany and herbal preparation continued after completing her studies at Daoist Traditions. She was involved with a farmer’s cooperative focused on growing Chinese medicine herbs in Western North Carolina. Currently, she is involved with community gardens. Her private practice, Longevity Acupuncture & Apothecary is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. The mountains’ strength and wisdom provide a beautiful home for her practice, which promotes and nourished a full life so that the body and spirit may feel light and free. Her longevity philosophy of Chinese medicine is also symbolized by 9 mountaintops, each peak representing major themes we move through in our lifetime: health, wealth, abundance, relationship, creativity, travel, career, wisdom, and finally reaching a sense of peace and completion. Her specialties are mental and emotional well being and neurology. Mary has studied qi gong, tai chi and sword forms in the US with Gregory Casey, Master Bing and Master Chen from the Wudang tradition. She has also completed numerous lectures by Jeffrey Yuen on favorite topics including the roots of Chinese herbal medicine, tree spirit medicine, and numerous other topics on healing since 2008. MAHM < Back Emily Fader MLIS Emily Fader has her MLIS from University of SC - Colombia. She began her career while living in Brooklyn at CBS News in NY. She has worked tirelessly as a librarian to archive the Jeffrey Yuen DVD collection and is proud of the 280 current videos accessible to students and alumni in the library for viewing. As Faculty at Daoist Traditions she teaches 1st year students about the UNCA library and other local resources to guide them through finding vetted info in the years of their doctoral/master's studies. In her free time she plays for Bad Fidelity, a punk band in WNC and likes finding a nook and reading with a cup of her favorite tea.
